JANICE LUCILLE ROWLAND, 96, of Williamsport, Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home, Saturday, February 2, 2013. Born February 25, 1916 in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Millard L. and Elizabeth T. Frindinger Kepner. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Rowland in 1968. She graduate from Shenandoah Valley Academy, she attended Washington Missionary College and received her degree in teaching from Sheppard University. Janice taught third grade at Williamsport Elementary and Smithsburg Elementary Schools retiring in 1980 after eighteen years of teaching. She was a member of the Williamsport Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Women's Prayer Group. She was a member of the Washington County and Maryland Retired Teachers Association's and the Cumberland Valley Retirement Assoication. Janice was a volunteer with Washington County Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by a brother, Scott Kepner of Hagerstown; four nieces, Barbara Ott, Debbie McElory, Patricia May and Joan Marshall; special friend and caregiver, Valerie Smith; and friends, Barbara Ambrose, Carol Byrkit and Gloria French. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Kepner and a pre-infant, daughter. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Franke Zollman will officiate. Burial will be in Quincy Cemetery in Quincy, Pennsylvania.
