JANICE LARAINE HAMMOND, 80, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Hagerstown. Born September 7, 1928 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of the late William David and Zora Burgan Pettit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Richard Hammond, Sr., May 7, 1987. She was previously employed with Eyerly's Department Store. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is survived by a son, Irvin R. Hammond II of Martinsburg, WV; two grandchildren, Richard William Hammond and Melissa Ann Hammond; and three great grandchildren, Sarah Hammond, Elizabeth Hammond and Laura Hammond. She was preceded in death by one sister. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd with Bishop Jack Castle officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, Maryland. The family will receive friends today from 7:00-9:00pm at the funeral home.
