Obituary

On May 10, 2013 God called home my Best Friend at 50 years of age. Janet was a wonderful wife and 'Best Friend' to Doy C. Sneckenberger for over 30 years. We met one Sunday while she was finishing up her classes at Hagerstown Business College In the fall of 1982. We were Married on June 15, 1985 at Devil's Backbone Park. That was one of our favorite places to walk and talk about life and make plans for the future. Today there is no doubt in my mind that she is in Paradise with her Lord, Jesus Christ and setting up a home for us there. She is survived by her Husband of 27 years Doy C. Sneckenberger, Her loving Mother and Step-Father, Hope & Richard Oates and her Father, Glenn Shifflett . She was dearly loved by her mother in law and father in law Gloria and Donald Sneckenberger and her sister in law and brother in law Brenda and Jody Sneckenberger and their girls Jodi Lee and Megan. She also had an extended family in Virginia that included Charlie and Gail (Oates family), Cathy, Nevin and Brock (Brill Family) that helped raise her as a child. We have many Friends and a very large extended family. We wish to thank everyone for your Prayers and Support as Janet bravely battled MS for over 25 years and Seizures for the past 5 years and she was a breast cancer survivor for 1 year. She was the Strongest Woman I have ever known, but was also the gentlest person I have ever met and was generous beyond measure! We will all miss her smiling face and bright personality. Aunt Irene Swartz called Janet "Little Sunshine" and that was so fitting for her! God Knows what He was doing, and mercifully spared her from a long battle with breast cancer by calling her home. Janet had many jobs in sales and accounting but she was most proud of the many years of work she did for the "Family Business" at the Hagerstown Block Company as an accountant. Not many people could work with a Spouse, but I looked forward to spending every day with her as we worked together. She was also a member of Maranatha Grace Brethren Church in Hagerstown, MD. Janet could also be seen many evenings helping to clean up at the Clean and Bright Laundries in Hagerstown. She loved meeting all our friends there and talking with the children! The Family will have a viewing and time to gather together at the Minnich Funeral Home at 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown on Monday, May 13, from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. It was Janet's and my wish that since we spent so much time together in life, that whoever went to Heaven first would be cremated, and now, when I next go Home to meet her there, we will be placed together in 'Our Final Resting Place' until Jesus call our 'New Bodies' into the sky to join Him. Good Bye for now, My Love, until we meet again in Heaven!!! In place of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made to: Maranatha Brethren Church, 19835 Scott Hill Drive or Hagerstown, MD 21742 or Calvary Grace Brethren Church 115 Bryan Place, Hagerstown, MD 21740
