Obituary

Jane Ann Mudrovich, 72, of Escanaba, Michigan, died unexpectedly on Dec. 11, 2021, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, Maryland, after recovering from a medical procedure at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Jane was born in Monroe, Michigan, in 1949 to Thomas and Mildred Mudrovich. Jane graduated from Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan, in 1989, with a master's degree in abnormal psychology. She would go on to serve as a licensed professional counselor in Michigan, Ohio, and Maine, for 32 years, helping thousands of individuals, families, and specializing with veterans of the Vietnam War and those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Jane also enjoyed a career as an adjunct instructor of psychology, sociology, and interpersonal communications until she retired from Bay de Noc Community College, in Escanaba, Michigan in 2016. Jane was a prolific artist who loved to paint. She was a voracious reader and published two books. For many years she lived as a hobby farmer, caring for animals including her Percheron horse, Clyde. In her lifetime she also worked as a professional model and acting coach. Jane achieved many things during her lifetime. She would tell you, though, that "the best things I ever did were my two children, Jennifer and Matthew." The last weeks of Jane's life were spent surrounded by family and in the company of her grandchildren. The pain of her loss cannot be described, though her family is grateful for the woman they knew and all the time they had with her. She leaves behind her daughter, Jennifer Shampo, her son, Matthew (Mary) Heath, her grandchildren: Savanah Jane, Thomas, and Jack, and her three sisters: Katherine McPike, Roseann Mudrovich (twin), and Margaret (John) Steketee. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mildred Mudrovich. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Details will be forthcoming. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Escanaba Vet Center, 3500 Ludington St, Suite 100, Escanaba, Michigan, or help a veteran.
