JAMES FRANKLIN STANICEK, 66, of Hagerstown, Maryland, stopped living on Earth and started living in Heaven on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Born July 1, 1947, in Yankton, South Dakota, he was the son of the late Melvin and Evelyn Lubbers Stanicek. He was a member of the Hagerstown Bible Church, where he sang in the church choir. Jim was a member of the Tri-State Astronomers, an amateur radio operator, and was a volunteer at the Discovery Station in downtown Hagerstown. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Margaret Stanicek; a daughter, Crystal Stanicek and fianc, Michael Smith of Hagerstown, MD; a son, Andrew Stanicek and wife, Michelle of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren, Kristiana Stanicek and Alexander Stanicek both of Hagerstown, MD. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dale R. Carver will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. before the service at the funeral home.
