James "Jim" Earl Recher, a longtime resident of Bethesda, MD, passed away on February 1, 2016 at Suburban Hospital. He was born on February 22, 1931 in Hagerstown, MD to Mabel and Earl Recher. James was preceded in death by his brother Richard "Dick" Recher of Chewsville, MD, and his sister Mary Frances Recher of Bethesda and Williamsport, MD. Jim was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy from 1951-54. In 1959, he graduated from the University of Maryland with a major in business. Jim was a long time employee of the Small Business Administration retiring in 1982. He enjoyed volunteering with Travelers Aid at Washington National Airport and spending time with family and friends. Jim was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, MD. He is survived by his niece, Barbara Recher Davis of Fairfax, VA; his nephew, Gary Recher (Mary Anne) of Smithsburg, MD; great nieces, Lisa Davis Gumaer (Nathan); Amanda Recher Sorg (Aaron) and Kimberly Recher Brown (Corey); and great-nephew, Jonathan Recher (fianc Rae Deslich). Services will be held at noon on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wolfsville, MD.
