James Richard Mills, 84, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born on August 13, 1933 in Park Head, MD to the late Richard Alvey Mills and Laura Ruth Kline Mills. James served in the United States Air Force as well as a police officer in Hancock and Frederick, Maryland. He retired after many years as an oiler for Mack Trucks. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two sisters, Sally Rich and Naomi Ruth Coleman, and one brother, Gregory Weaver. He is survived by his children, Anita Carter, Angela Mills, Mary Mills, James Richard Mills Jr., Clara Renae Sease, Michael Lewis Mills, Richard Bradley Mills, Tina Marie Mills, and Jackie Weller, one brother, Delbert Mills, and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. James had a soft spot for his pets and leaves behind his beloved canine companion, Baby. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 6-8pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. A funeral service will be held, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Broadfording Church Cemetery.
