JAMES EDGAR FARRIS, 59, of 1924 Abbey Lane, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Friday, December 29, 2006 at the Washington County Hospital. Born May 11, 1947 in Washington, D. C., he was the son of Anna Mary Davenport of Silver Spring, Maryland, and the late Edgar Hobert Farris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Lee Farris. He served in the U. S. Air Force. He was employed with Verizon, retiring after thirty-seven years. He was a member of C. W. A. Local 2105 for fifteen years, and served as President. He was a member of the American Legion, Williamsport Post 202. He is survived by one son, James Farris of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia; one daughter, Debbie Richmond of Richmond, Virginia; one step-daughter, Chrissy Donovan of Martinsburg, West Virginia; four step-sons, Clay Collis of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Jeff Collis of High Point, North Carolina, Brian Oxendine of Middletown, Virginia, and Brett Oxendine of Hagerstown; three brothers, Donald Farris, Kenneth Farris, and Robert Farris, all of the Silver Spring, Maryland area; fifteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and companion, Iva Oxendine of Hagerstown. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p. m. Tuesday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Pastor Jack Hiles will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p. m. and also following the memorial service.
