James Oliver Buckalew, Jr., 84, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

Born August 10, 1941 in Frostburg, MD, he was the son of the late James Oliver Buckalew, Sr. and Audrey (Bittinger) Buckalew.

James graduated from Valley High School. He served as a Commander with the Royal Rangers and was a beloved Little League baseball coach, where he took great joy in mentoring and encouraging young players. He had a lifelong love for Corvettes, especially his own, which he took great pride in.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon Ark Buckalew; two sons, Kevin Buckalew of Hedgesville, WV, and Allan Buckalew of Hagerstown; one brother, Britt Buckalew of Oregon; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11am, on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, 14205 Pleasant Valley Road, Flintstone, MD. Rev. Jeff Ferguson will officiate.
