JACK OWEN CONRAD, 84, of Hagerstown, MD., died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the V.A. Medical Center, in Martinsburg, WV. Born in Hagerstown, MD, on December 1, 1929, he was the oldest child of the late John H. and Margaret J. (Harper) Conrad. He graduated from Frederick High School in 1947. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Sissy) Ridenour Conrad in 2000. He was inducted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War. Jack retired after 25 years from the Leather Tannery in Williamsport, MD in 2002. Jack was a member of American Legion Post 202, the Red Men Tribe #84 and Moose Lodge2462 in Williamsport, MD. He had a beautiful singing voice and his favorite pastime was singing karaoke with his pals. He is survived by one son, James Conrad and wife, Renee Elswick of Thurmont, MD; sisters, Faye Bevard of Frederick, MD and Lois Conrad of Martinsburg, WV; brothers, Glen Conrad of Hedgesville, WV and Earl Conrad and wife, Jeanette of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandsons, Justin Conrad and wife, Lauren of Hanover, PA and Patrick Dinges of Thurmont, MD. A military memorial service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at American Legion Post 202, 400 American Legion Drive, Williamsport, MD 21795. There will be no viewing or visitation.
