Iris Rosa Alice Werking, 96, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. She was born in England on March 14, 1923 to the late Arthur and Rose Fletcher. Iris completed school in England and served in the Royal Air Force in communications during World War II where she met her late husband. She later worked at Fahrneys Cards and Gifts for 47 years before retiring at the age of 90. She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Harold Werking, her siblings, Arthur Fletcher, Eric Fletcher, John Fletcher, and Rosina Stewart, and her nephew, David Stewart. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Kayser and Iris Kresge and her husband, Pete, her grandchildren, Melissa Kayser, Christopher Kayser and his wife, Rachel, and Jonathan Kresge and his wife, Katie, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 3-5pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.
