Irene Elizabeth Barrett, 86, of 120 Buttercup Drive, Hagerstown, MD went to be with the Lord on her birthday, April 30, 2007 at Washington Co. Hospital after a short illness. Born April 30, 1921 in Ellington, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Oney and Mattie Haywood Evans. She was preceded in death by, three sisters and two brothers all from Missouri. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Arvel J. Barrett; her son Warren K. Barrett, and his wife Pam, and two grandsons, Chad and Tyler of Hagerstown. She is also survived by her brother Bill Evans of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister Dorothy Buxton of Piedmont, Missouri; and a number of nieces and nephews. Irene was a faithful partner to her husband for 64 years and together was in pastoral ministry for over 43 years. She ministered in music, teaching and counseling in the seven churches they pastured including Bethel Assembly of God, Hagerstown from 1957 to 1978. Services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Assembly of God, 515 E. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown. Rev. D. Wendle Cover and Rev. Terry Broadwater will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Internment will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
