HOWARD E. BARNES, JR., "ED", 67, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center. Born September 4, 1951 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Howard (Sonny) Barnes, Sr. and Luliabelle (Kroboth) Barnes. Ed attended South Hagerstown High School. He was last employed by Bragunier Masonry as a Foreman before his retirement. Ed loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, trapper and loved to fish. He also enjoyed golf and baseball. He impacted the lives of many Hagerstown youths as a Coach throughout the years with West End Little League and the Colt League. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his grandparents, James D. Barger and Helen L. Barger who raised him and a step-sister, Catherine L. Kroboth. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Colleen (Connie) Barnes, a sister, Cheryl Cunningham and husband, Lewis; three sons, Edward III, Glenn (Tammy) and Anthony (Sheri); brother and sister-in-laws, Ernie and Pam Davis and Glenna and Joe Meshyock; three grandchildren, Kyle, Christina and Reagan and several nieces and nephews along with his loyal, ball-chasing companion, Brutus. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev Randy Buchman will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
