HILDA LOIS WORTHINGTON, 89, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died Friday, May 7, 2010. at Quincy Nursing Home in Quincy, Pennsylvania. Born July 30, 1920 in Hancock, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late David E. and Kathryn O. Mills Gordon. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Robert L. Worthington in 1990. Hilda was a 1942 graduate of Juniata College and a 1970 graduate of Arizona State University with a Masters Degree in Earth Science. Hilda was employed with the Washington County Board of Education. She was as a math teacher at Smithsburg High, Clear Spring High, South Hagerstown High and taught summer school at North Hagerstown High. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 89. Hagerstown, AARP, Washington County Retired Teachers Association and Maryland Retired Teachers Association. Hilda is survived by two daughters, H. Beth Watson and husband, Daniel of Waynesboro, PA and E. Kathryn Worthington, M.D. of Parkersburg, WV; one son, Robert Worthington and wife, Peg of Lanham, MD; four grandsons, Dustin and Daniel Watson, Todd and Chad Worthington; and six great grandchildren. Memorial service will be Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate.
