Obituary

Henry L Madden, age 78 of Maugansville, MD, passed away on May 1, 2023. He was born in Hagerstown, MD on December 15, 1944, and spent his entire life in Washington County. A graduate of North Hagerstown HS with the Class of 1962, he was a child of God, Husband, Father, Grandfather and "Puppy Pappy" and will be remembered for his gentle way, hard work, and kind spirit. Like many of his generation, he could take a rubber band and a screw and fix anything that needed "fixin". He operated his own home improvement business (JAM Home Improvements) for several years and could build a piece of furniture from a stick. He took great pride in his yard, and it was the last thing he was worried about before his brief illness.

He had been employed by Mack Trucks, Oliver Homes and Washington County Schools over the years. He spent much of his time serving others on Mission Trips around the world.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo Raymond and Isadora Elaine (McGowan) Madden and his much beloved Boxer, Princess Abigail. The past 4 years he spent his time as a puppy sitter for his Granddog Bailey as they spent countless hours watching old westerns and game shows while munching on brown sugar cinnamon pop-tarts.

He is survived by wife, Patsy R. (Piper) Madden of Maugansville; daughters, Stacy L. Oliver (Ron) of Greencastle, PA and P. Michelle Koontz of Maugansville; grandchildren, Hailee E. (Koontz) Radcliff (Cody) of Littleton, CO and Clint A. Koontz of Lynchburg, VA; step grandchildren, Brian Oliver (Jill) of Chambersburg, PA, Bradley Oliver (Stephanie) and Adam Oliver, both of Greencastle, PA; step great grandchildren, Cameron, Lillian and Natalie Oliver, also of Greencastle and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
