Obituary

HENRY ALBERT "HANK" HESSE, 87 of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport, Maryland. Born June 29, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Henry A. and Katherine Keil Hesse. He owned and operated Hesse Oil Company for 18 years. It was the largest petroleum distributor in the Washington County area. He was a veteran of W.W. II, serving with the U.S. Army, during the European Theater, in five major campaigns, including Battle of the Bulge and Battle of Remagan Bridge. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of Haven Lutheran Church. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge, American Legion Post #42, D.A.V., and V.F.W. Post 1936. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Lois Hesse; three daughters, Sally Hessnice, and husband Joseph, of Grahm, N. C., Nancy Lehman, and husband Loren, and Jane Miller, and husband Bryan, both of New Market, Virginia; a son, Scott Hesse, and wife Sherry, of Outer Banks, N.C.; three step-daughters, Deborah Rossman, and husband Robert, of Williamsport, JoAnne Myers, and husband William, of Hagerstown and Cathleen R. Fisher of Arvada, Co.; two step-sons, Randall Korte, and wife Angel, of Chico, Ca., and David Allan Intorcia, and wife Kathy, of Hinsdale, Il.; one brother Robert Hesse, and wife Jean, of Madia, Pa.; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Drew Hesse, and a step-son Roderick Korte. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Maryland, on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740, or the Holiday Staff Fund at Williamsport Retirement Village, 154 N. Artizan St., Williamsport, MD 21795.
