Helena Tieese Harrell, 45, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Meritus Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was born, September 6, 1978 in Hagerstown, MD to Jackie L. McAfee and Richard E. Harrell.

Helena was a 1996 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and dog-mom. She always had a smile on her face and welcomed every person with open arms. Helena spent her days tending to her beautiful plants, laughing with her family, and taking care of her fish. Everything she touched bloomed with love.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Wayne (Jack) McAfee; paternal grandmother, Imogene Harrell Jackson; stepbrother, Justin Mulligan; cousin, Jeremy McAfee; and aunt, Annette Mulligan Costlow.

In addition to her parents, Helena is survived by her children, Jacquan (Alexis) Young, Tymeir Tazewell, Aryanna Tazewell and their beloved father, Rasheem Tazewell; goddaughter, Erin Stubbs; grandsons, Jacquan Jr., Areli, Kameron, and Kannon; stepmother, Bonnie Harrell; brother, Ricky (Danielle) Harrell; stepsister, Ashley Webb; nieces and nephews, Ricky Jr. and Devin Harrell, John Leone, Ciara Webb, and Gavin Bonhomme; grandmother, MaeEtta McAfee; uncles, Chris (Lisa), Mark (Alan), and Adam McAfee, Sydney (Debbie), Lynn (Cathy), and Chris Jackson (Missy); aunts, Roxanne Tracy (Rick), Danny Richardson, Kim Mason, and Angie, Richard (Cissy), and Barry Mulligan; cousin, Christina (Toni) McAfee Pierson, as well as a host of loving friends and family.

Family and friends are welcomed for a funeral service on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 11:00am at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown.

Interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.
