HELEN LEONA WRIGHT, 69 of Hagerstown, went home to be with Jesus at her home on Fairview Road, on June 23, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 25, 1942 in Slainesville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James Elmer Wright, Sr. and Betty Leona Smoot Wright. A strong, brave, kind, loving and gentle woman. Always thinking of others and caring for them in whatever way she could. She loved cooking and feeding others as an expression of her love. Few on words yet strong on actions. A hero of heros; never held a public office, had a famous name, but left her imprint on the lives of others by her loving, caring unselfish deeds. She fought the battle of cancer bravely for over one year. She kept going until the last few days. Never asked for much in life, yet gave all she had for others. The oldest of 12, she was a second mother to all; an example of what a Godly woman should be. She is survived by two sons, James "Toby" Turvin, and wife Renee, and Earl "Lynn" Turvin, and wife Celeste; three sisters, Janice Walling, Dolores Atha and her husband Ben, and Bonnie Meyers; an adopted sister, Vickie Sellers of South Carolina; five brothers, James Elmer Wright II and wife Carol, Gary Wright and companion Gaye, Ray "Bill" Wright and wife Cathy, Donald Wright and Karl "Tim" Wright and companion Tina; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and her faithful companion, Sweet Thing. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Turvin; and three sisters, Carolyn Guessford Upperman, Debora Coble Duvall and Patricia Ann Wright. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Jonathan Laye will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
