HELEN MUSSER LIGHTNER of Hagerstown and formerly of Mt. Tabor Road, died on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in Hagerstown. Born June 11, 1925 in Atkins, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Laura Musser. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lightner in 1999. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. She was employed at L'Aiglon and E. J. Fennel sewing factories. She was a past member of Post 202 American Legion in Williamsport and the Redmen of Williamsport. She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Hayes Blair of Hagerstown; a granddaughter, Jennifer Hendershot and husband Donnie of Clear Spring, Md.; two great grandsons, Brian and Michael Hendershot of Clear Spring; and a sister, Elsie Evans of Grosclose, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside service and burial will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Marion, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Washington County Humane Society, 13011 Maugansville Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
