Obituary

Helen Marie Hose, 93, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away from this life on Thursday, February 8, 2024. She was born October 11, 1930 in Huntington, NY, daughter of the late William and Marie (Ludorf) Courduff.

She is survived by children, Laura Parrish-Bowman, Michael Parrish (Barbara Martin), George (Mary) Parrish, Sally Hose (Tom Sanders); six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two sisters, Marie Wolfe and Janet Woods.

She was also preceded in death by first her husband, Farmer Edison Parrish; second husband, Frederick Thomas Hose, Jr; stepson, Frederick T. Hose, III; and brothers, William E. Courduff and Edward C. Courduff.

Helen retired in 1987 from Mack Truck after 25 years of service in industrial relations. She also worked for 6 years at the Sharpsburg Pike AC&T deli where she left at the age of 80. Her earlier careers included garment modeling in New York City and playing "semi-professional" field hockey for the Long Island Field Hockey Association.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Halfway MD, a charter member of Catholic Daughters Court #2245, served as Regent and held several other positions through the years. She taught CCD classes, started the Bereavement Luncheons and After Mass Socials. She was also a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 6.

A memorial service will be held 1pm on Friday, February 16th at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Helen was a bright light for all who knew her, always with open arms for hugs and encouragement. She lived and practiced her faith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
