Obituary

Harry William "Bill" Wolfensberger, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on May 8th, 2023. Born on March 24th, 1928, in Hagerstown, Bill lived a full and faith-filled life, touching the hearts and lives of all who knew him.

Bill was a proud and dedicated family man, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Toms Wolfensberger, his son Bill, son in law Mark Grove, and his siblings, Yogi, Bonnie, and Judy. Bill is survived by his two children, Randy (Cindy) and Sandra and daughter-in-law Diane, his nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings, Clara, Kaye, and Paul, his brother-in-law Marvin Toms, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

As a young man, Bill bravely served his country in the merchant marines and the army during World War II. He was awarded the prestigious Congressional Gold Medal for his service and dedication to his nation. Upon returning home, Bill continued to work hard and provide for his family as an employee of HL Mills, Fairchild Aircraft, and Rohr Industries. In his retirement, Bill enjoyed working alongside his son Bill at MTS in Winchester, VA.

Bill was a passionate outdoorsman and hunter, taking great joy in the beauty of God's creation. He loved spending time with his family, sharing his wisdom and wit with all who would listen. Among his favorite pastimes were indulging in ice cream and peanut butter, simple pleasures that brought him great delight.

A man of strong faith, Bill's life was a testament to the power of a relationship with the Lord. As the Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith".
