Harry Ellsworth Stains, 91, of Orlando, FL, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Metro West Nursing and Rehab Center. Born December 31, 1930, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late George P. Stains, Sr. and Virginia (Harrigan) Stains. Harry was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, class of 1950. He served in the National Guard. He retired from Western Maryland and Chessie Railroads after 40 years. He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge #378, Western MD Oldtimers Club, and United Teamsters Union for 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Harry is survived by his daughters, Patricia McIlvain and Linda Litschauer; four grandchildren, Eric Boudreau, Bryan Boudreau, Ted Litschauer, Jr., and Marie Wagan; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 ½ years, Mary (Molly) Stains; a brother, George Stains. A graveside service will be held 10:30am Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Rev. Ernest Cibelli will officiate. Military honors provided by Joint Veterans Council and Marine Corps League of Washington County.
