Obituary

HARRY GORDON SPRANKLE, 77, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at his home. Born July 10, 1936 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Luther and Bessie May Hurd Sprankle. Harry was previously employed with Fairchild Aircraft. He was the owner of Sprankle's Painting and Decorating. Harry loved to play the bugle for the Drum and Bugle Corp. with American Legion Post 42. Harry was a member of the Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Erma Weaver; and five brothers, Howard Sprankle, Richard Sprankle, Dick Sprankle, Carl Sprankle, Sr., and Bub Sprankle. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Emma Virginia Sprankle; son, Robert Summers, Sr. and wife Charmain; two granddaughters, Tessa Moats and husband Allen, Bethann Moyer and husband Richard; two grandsons, Michael Summers and wife Ashley, Robert Summers, Jr. and wife Kim; five great-granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; and close niece Christy Tracey and husband Elwood. Services will be 2:30pm Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Minnich Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry L. Lowans will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. The family requests donations to help defray the funeral expenses. Send donations to Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E.
