Harold "Bud" Eugene Spickler, 95, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, at Doey's House, surrounded by his family.
Born September 2, 1929, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Harvey Oscar and Lillian Santos (Pittenger) Spickler.
Bud was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a MD State Trooper and retired as Chief of Security at MCI. He volunteered at both Washington County Hospital and Meritus, as well as transporting patients to appointments for the American Cancer Society. Bud was a member of Williamsport Redmen Tribe 84, Elks Lodge #378, Funkstown American Legion Post 211 and Otterbein United Methodist Church.
He cherished his family time and was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens.
Bud is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bonnie Spickler, whom he married December 10, 1955; two sons, Greg (Cindy) Spickler and Steve (Joni) Spickler; one daughter, Kathy (Alan) Oberholzer; seven grandchildren, Amber Frazer, Justin South, Brian Spickler, Ashley Spickler, Bradley Spickler, Lexi Thomas, and Stephanie Schiano-DiCola; eight great grandchildren, Grace, Reese, Cruz, Landon, Caleb, Jacob, Brenna, and Ayla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his immediate family, being preceded in death by five sisters, Catherine, Edna, Pearl, Ethel, and Helen; and two brothers, Ross and Clinton; and son-in-law, David South.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Chris Schlotterbeck will officiate.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 5-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doey's House, 11370 Caring Pathway Ln., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
