HAROLD JACK BENDER, SR., 88, of Clear Spring, MD passed away December 26, 2013 at his home. Born July 8, 1925 in Martinsburg, WV, he was the son of the late Samuel Benton and Anna Agle Boarman Bender. Harold was a WWII veteran. He served in the United State Navy between 1943-1946 in Normandy. He received a European Theater Ribbon, a Bronze Star, an American Theater Ribbon, and a Victory Medal. Harold retired from Mack Truck after 24 years. He loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by his daughter, Joanna Bender of Martinsburg, WV; son, Harold J. Bender Jr and wife Faye of Martinsburg, WV; three step-daughters, Roselyn Lesher and husband Paul of Richmond, VA, Priscilla Alter and husband Michael of PA, and Regina Lynch and husband Denny of Hagerstown, MD; step-son, Kevin Judd and wife Dawn of Smithsburg, MD; one sister, Mildred Anderson of Inwood, WV; brother, James Bender of Martinsburg, WV. Harold is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife Joan Judd; daughter, Pamela Markley; sister, Mary Joann Huyett; and three brothers, Charles, Samuel and Lawrence Bender. Services will be Tuesday, January 14, 11am at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown, MD 21740. Pastor Curtis Lowery will officiate. Entombment will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by Washington County AMVETS Post #10 and Marine Corp. League of Hagerstown.
