Gwendolyn Germaine Bishop, 93, of Hagerstown, MD, died peacefully at Coffman Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 20, 2019. She was born on October 27, 1926 to the late Charles E. Fair and Mary Frush Fair. Gwendolyn worked at L Aiglon Apparel in Hagerstown for 17 years. Following her employment with L Aiglon, she continued to work as a seamstress for local businesses. Gwendolyn later worked for the Board of Education in the Food Services Department and she proudly served as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the community as well. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Hagerstown where she was a member of the choir, served as a deaconess, and was a part of the Ever-Ready Sunday School class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Bishop, five sisters, and one brother. She is survived by her three sons, William L. Bishop II and his wife, Connie, Dennis W. Bishop and his wife, Cathy, and Mark C. Bishop and his wife, Tammy, her grandchildren, Brian Bishop and his wife, Mendy, Patrick Bishop, Kaitlyn Wilson and her husband, Tyler, and Kylie Bishop, her great-grandchildren, Landon Bishop, Maci Bishop, Baylei Wilson, Emily Wilson, Emma Wilson, and Lainey Bass, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation on Monday, December 23, 2019 from 6-8pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at 9:30am at the funeral home. Pastors Richard Knoll and Bill Kleckner will officiate. Interment will take place at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
