Obituary

GUY LEROY SMITH, 85, of 20553 Shadyside Way, Germantown, Maryland, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Maryland. Born November 5, 1918 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Frank and Leila C. Beard Smith.. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army. He owned and operated Smith Realty Company in Hagerstown for over thirty years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Medairy Lodge #140, A.F. he was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Ali Ghan Shriners, the Hagerstown Shrine Club, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon #95. He was Past President of the Washington County Board of Realtors. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Kerr Smith; one daughter, Joyce Pentz of Hagerstown; two sons, Clarence Smith of Bethesda, Maryland, and Dwight Smith of Hagerstown; two step-daughters, Cathy Randall and Margaret Ann Brandt, both of Germantown, Maryland; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; one niece, Earlene Johnson of Hagerstown; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by one brother, Earl J. Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Saturday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. Rev. Dr. James M. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Maryland National Guard. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p. m. Masonic Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 p. m. Friday by the Medairy Lodge #140, A. F. & A. M.
