Gregory "Greg" Lynn Smith, 69, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024. Born March 31, 1955, he was the son of the late Mary Jane (Vinson) and Earl Wayne Smith.
Greg's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his loved ones, his sense of humor, and his friendly and loving nature.
A proud 1973 graduate of North Hagerstown High School, Greg furthered his education at Hood College, and earned his Master's Plumbing Degree. His professional life culminated in a fulfilling retirement from SAIC, where he left a lasting impact through his hard work and dedication.
Greg's commitment to the community was evident in his early achievement as an Eagle Scout and his later role as Cub Master for Pack 27. His leadership and guidance shaped the lives of many young individuals in his community. His personal interests included playing softball and bowling, activities through which he formed many cherished friendships. Gregory's legacy of laughter, friendship, and love endures in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debra Smith; his daughter who was his biggest blessing in life, Christina Ardinger (husband, James); his grandchildren whom he loved above all, Tyler Hudler and Isabell Castle; his three brothers, Ronald, Gary, and Brian Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by his brother, Sonny Smith.
The funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, October 24, 2024 with Pastor Bill Divelbiss officiating at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm.
