Grace Louise Rummel, 87, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on June 27, 2020 at Homewood at Williamsport Retirement Center. Born in Claylick, PA, she was the daughter of Ellis and Cora (Carbaugh) Bricker. Grace graduated from Mercersburg High School and attended Nursing School in Baltimore. She worked as a nurse/office manager for Dr. Walter Layman, as a bookkeeper at ML Electric Co. and later as an LPN at Homewood at Williamsport. Above all, Grace was a homemaker, a devoted wife and a loving mother. She was an exceptional seamstress, making beautiful, award-winning quilts and clothes for her children and grandchildren. She loved gardening, planting flowers and beautifying their home in Hagerstown. In retirement, Grace and her husband John traveled the world, fulfilling a lifelong desire. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John R. Rummel, her parents, and her eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Mitzie K. Rummel (Martin Mahon) of Rochester Hills, MI, and Susan R. Weller of Clearspring, MD; a son, John E. Rummel (Cathy Propper) of Madison, WI; three grandchildren, Erin Sutton (Chuck), Scott Weller (Betty Martin) and Andrea Rummel; two great-granddaughters, Olivia Grace Weller and Callie Rose Sutton; and two step-great-grandchildren, Logan Martin and Mirah Sutton. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.Due to COVID-19 precautions, a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Homewood at Williamsport.
