Obituary

Born January 30, 1926 she was the first of five children born to Claude and Lois Smith. She was a bookkeeper employed by Sears & Roebuck for 13 years. Gloria was a homemaker, and her family was always her top priority. Gloria was preceded in death by her firstborn son Ronald L Broom in 2001, her loving husband of 58 years Edward L Broom Sr. in 2004, and her brother Donald E Smith in 2010. She is survived by her son and caregiver Edward L Broom Jr., daughter-in-law Judith Broom, grandson David M. Broom, granddaughter Christy Pantry, four great-grandchildren Matthew, Rachel, Jacob, and Faith, brothers Richard Smith and Robert Smith, and her sister Pat Charles who provided companionship and care for in her later years. Special thanks from the family to Dalonna "Dutchie" Stickford who provided loving and compassionate caregiver services to Gloria for 8+ years before she succumbed to Alzheimer's disease. Gloria expressed concern how she would be cared for in her later years having no natural born daughters, Dutchie became the daughter she never had, and became an adoptive member of the family.
