GLENN AUSTIN (Dick) WARRENFELTZ, 78, formerly of Beaver Creek Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Reeder's Nursing Home in Boonsboro, Maryland. Born January 23, 1936 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Jacob O. and Elta L. Showman Warrenfeltz. Dick's life focused around auto mechanics. He managed several service stations throughout the area, and was the service manager at Hoffman Chevrolet for many years. He taught small engine repair and general mechanics at Victor Cullen School. In the 1970's he shifted focus by managing the Starlight Inn, and the Pitt Stop. He ended his career as proprietor of Warrenfeltz Auto Service. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was a member of Williamsport Red Men, Conococheague Tribe 84 Moose Club, and Hagerstown Speedway. Glenn was inducted into the Hagerstown Speedway Hall of Fame and Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown Hall of Fame. Dick was a gifted mechanic who inherited a knack with food from his mother. He was a consummate short order cook starting at Richardson's in the early 1950's continuing through 2009 finding the best spots on the Bay; bringing home bushels of crabs which he cooked for family and friends. Dick never met a stranger, and was always willing to help anyone who asked. He greeted everyone with a wide smile, a hearty laugh and quickly nicknamed everyone he metmost of those nicknames lasted a lifetime. He is survived by two sons, Timothy Lynn Warrenfeltz & wife Barbara of Fairplay, MD and Glenn Michael Warrenfeltz and wife Barbara of Halfway, MD; two sisters, Minerva Trimmer of Greencastle, and Barbara Shipe and husband Larry of Hagerstown; one brother, George Warrenfeltz and wife Barbara of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Angie Marie Warrenfeltz, Michael Glenn Warrenfeltz and Amy Staley; seven great grandchildren, Tyler Bare, Chance Parfett, Austin Warrenfeltz, Harley Warrenfeltz, Devon Staley, Colton Staley and Kelsie Miner, three nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jeremy Miner, a brother, Marvin Warrenfeltz, and brother-in-law William Trimmer. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Hospice Chaplain, Rev. Duane Musgrove will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Maryland.
