GLENN RUSSELL STRITE, 86, of Maugansville, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Meritus Medical Center. Born November 19, 1927 in Leitersburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late Amos Wishard Strite and Gladys Berl Shafer. Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Strite who passed away December 21, 2013 after 63 years of Marriage. They were married on Christmas Day, December 25, 1949. Glenn was a member and a trustee at Longmeadow Church of the Brethren. He was the first manager of the Ruritan Little League, where he also served as a coach and umpire for many years. He was also a lifetime member of the Maugansville Volunteer Fire Company, and Maugansville Ruritan Club. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Kaplan and husband William. Lynda Lorshbaugh and husband Ronnie; one son, Donald Strite and wife Jean; two sisters, Miriam Eby and Esther Showalter; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Hankins, Ashley Taylor, Marcy Hardinger, David Kaplan, Jeremy Taylor, Steven Strite and Kevin Kaplan; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; one brother in law, Richard Petre and wife Patricia. Glenn was preceded in death by four brothers, C. Merle Strite, Amos Strite Jr., Harold Strite and Walter Strite; granddaughter, Lori Hose; sister in law, Dorothy Petre. Services will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday October 17, 2014 at Longmeadow Church of the Brethren, 19642 Longmeadow Road, Hagerstown, MD. The Pastor Paul N. Leatherman III will officiate. Burial will be at Longmeadow Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6-9 pm at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. Hagerstown, MD.
