GLEN ROBERT SMITH, 70, of 17417 Lappans Road, Fairplay, Maryland, died on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Meritus Medical Center. Born August 8, 1941, in Washington County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Ralph A. and Hazel Cline Smith. He was employed with Kaemph and Harris for twenty-three years, retiring in 2009. Prior to this he was employed with Horn Corporation in Hagerstown. He was a member of St. James Brethren Church. Glen enjoyed hunting, and was an avid fisherman and wood worker. He also enjoyed spending time at the cabin with his family and friends, that he and his brother, Ralph built. He is survived by his wife and best friend of fifty-one years, Maxine Smith; one daughter, Sheryl Buhrman, and husband, Brian, of Hagerstown; two sons, Dale Smith, and wife, Sandy, of Boonsboro, Maryland, and Dave Smith, and wife, Marlina, of Boonsboro, Maryland; one sister, Nancy Hart of Clear Spring, Maryland; one brother, Ralph F. Smith of Fairplay, Maryland; two half-sisters, Joann Resau of Downsville, Maryland, and Debbie Kinzer of Hagerstown; one half-brother, Kenny Smith of Downsville, Maryland; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Keeney, and Doris Sounders; two brothers, Elmer Smith, and Marvin Smith, and step-mother, Helen Smith. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p. m. Tuesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Brian H. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p. m. Family requests omission of flowers.
