GLADYS HENRIETTA SWORD, 86, formerly of Walnut Point Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Ravenwood Lutheran Village. Born August 10, 1918 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late George and Gladys Michael Kyne. She was preceded in death by her husband, James m. Sword, III in 1988. She formerly owned and operated the Antietam Tavern with her husband. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She is survived by five sons, James M. Sword, IV, Terry K. Sword, Darryl S. Sword, D. Kevin Sword, and Vernon L. Sword, all of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and eight brothers. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Monday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p. m.
