Gladys Virginia Kroll of Addison, Illinois (formerly of Hancock and Hagerstown, Maryland) passed away early Tuesday, November 26, at the age of 86. She was born on October 25, 1927 in Akron, Ohio, but primarily lived in Maryland in her youth. In 1946, Gladys married the late John Kroll. Following their graduation from Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island, they pastored churches in Maryland and Ohio before retiring in Hancock in 1987. Gladys was passionate about being a minister's wife and was active in women's and children's ministries as well as music programs. She later studied and earned her ministerial license. Gladys entered heaven November 26, 2013, after prolonged physical struggles. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Gloff and husband Rich of Addison, IL and Duane Kroll and wife June of Baltimore; two sisters, Grace Crawford of Williamsport and Mary Ross and husband Raymond of Bel Air; two brothers, Melvin Wiland and wife Esther of Lonaconing and Gerald Wiland and wife Joanne of Baltimore; sister-in-law Ann Kroll Becker; three grandchildren, Erik Kroll and wife Krystal, Ashley Leighton and husband Bruce, and Brittany Byczynski; two great-grandchildren, Chase Kroll and Alyssa Byczynski; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Monday, December 2, at 11 am at Hancock Assembly of God, 431 Pennsylvania Ave, Hancock, MD. Pastors Donald Preston and Jim Lloyd will officiate. Burial will be at Frostburg Memorial Cemetery in Frostburg, MD. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-5 pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E Wilson, Hagerstown, MD, and from 10-11 am on Monday prior to the service at Hancock Assembly of God.
