Gilbert Lee Benner, 94, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Fahrney-Keedy Senior Living in Boonsboro, MD.

Born August 29, 1928, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Levi R. and Nora J. (Fisher) Benner.

He served in both the Air Force and the Army. He retired in 1988 from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of the Postal Union. He loved helping his friends and family. Gilbert received a lot of joy from his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved dogs.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Josephine Marie Benner; daughter, Brenda Benner; son, Michael Benner (wife, Yovonna); two grandchildren, Brandon (wife, Lisa) and Scott (wife, Julia); and two great grandchildren, Leah and Oliver.

The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Allen Eshleman will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt Zion Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6pm to 9pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
