Gerald Glen Palmer, 82, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the University of TN, in Knoxville, TN.  Born February 15, 1942 in Myersville, MD, he was the son of the late Anna Mae (Wise) and Glen W. Palmer.

He loved his family, his work, and hunting. He was a member of the Catoctin Fish and Game Club.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Palmer; two daughters, Sherry Martin (husband, Robert) and Krystal Collins (husband, Pat); two sons, Doug Palmer and Dale Palmer (wife, Mande); eight grandchildren, Ashli Collins (husband, Tony), Rochelle Wolfe (husband, Kenny), Abbey Mantooth-Evan (husband, Josh), Klye Collins (wife, Marina), Sean Collins, Toryn Palmer, Kayli Palmer, and Brandon Hall; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Mary Flook (husband, Bob) and Judy Subetto; and four brothers, Woody Palmer (wife, Andrea), Bob Wise (wife, Faye), Dave Palmer (wife, Wanda), and Raymond Palmer (wife, Betty).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence Elmer and Mary Blanche Palmer, and Roy Milton and Esttella Irene Wise; daughter, Lori Ann Hall; granddaughter, Ashli Dawn Hall; two sisters, Sara Jane Palmer and Nancy Witmer; brother-in-law, Butch Subetto; and nephew, Robert Lee Wise II.

The family will receive friends from 3pm to 5pm, on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.

The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 11am with Rev. Larry Martz officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
