GEORGE ROBERT (BOB) EBERSOLE, 81, formerly of 12 South Walnut Street, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Veterans Hospital Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Born October 11, 1926 in Maugansville, Maryland, he was the son of the late George Franklin and Bertha Louise Sprankle Ebersole. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, Company B, 1716th Signal Service Battalion, and also served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was retired November 1, 1988 from the Pennsylvania Railroad, after twenty-two years. He was of the protestant faith. He was a member of the A.A.R.P., and a former member of the American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42. He is survived by one sister, Geraldine E. Weller of Maugansville, Maryland; his step-mother, Josephine Ebersole of Hagerstown; several half-sisters and half-brothers; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Carter, Hazel Ridenour, and Dorothy Neibert; and four brothers, Irvin Ebersole, Clarence Ebersole, Lawrence Ebersole, and Earl Ebersole. There will be no service. At his request, he was cremated. Family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard on Sunday from 7 to 9 p. m. Family requests omission of flowers, and donations to the charity of ones choice.
