Obituary

George Allen Berger, 70, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center. Born December 2, 1947 in Washington County, MD, he was the son of the late George Washington and Shirley Jane (Mallot) Berger. He graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1965. He was a member of the track and cross-country team, and the band. George and his wife, Odessa owned and operated the Trophy Shop in Hagerstown. He worked at American Financial Printers in Washington, D.C., and in the printing department of the C.I.A. in Langley, VA. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Amvets. George loved to play golf until his stroke in 2006. Following his stroke, he grew to love bird watching, playing board games and playing cards with family and friends. He looked forward to the Monday Poker games with The Gang. George is survived by his wife, Odessa Berger; one stepson, Brian Barnhart; one brother, Marvin Berger; and beloved cat, Sammy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one stepson, Michael Barnhart; and one brother, William Berger. Services will be planned at the convenience of the family.
