GENEVIEVE (Genny) A. WAGNER, 85, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died Friday, April 12, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center. Born November 26, 1927 in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Strait. Genevieve was a graduate of Boonsboro High School. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, George A. Wagner, Sr. She was previously employed as a cafeteria worker at St. Mary School, St. Maria Goretti High School, and with the Washington County School System. She began her career as a sales clerk at Hays Stationary Store. She was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church and choir; she also attended St. Mary's Catholic Church was a former member of their choir. Genevieve was a former member of the Morgan County Band, Waynesboro Band and Williamsport Blue Band, and the Bell Choir at St. Ann Catholic Church. She volunteered at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church and the Maryland Theater. She was a member of the New Horizon Band, New Horizon Ensemble Band, Hagerstown YMCA, and North Gate Swimming Pool. She loved spending time at the pool with her friends doing water aerobics and playing scrabble. She is survived by three sons, George A. Wagner, Jr. of Kinnelon, NJ, Randall E. Wagner of Hagerstown, MD and Gerard J. Wagner of Clear Spring, MD; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 West Washington St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Martin S. Nocchi and Rev. Collin Poston will be concelebrants. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:45 p.m. The family requests the omission of flowers.
