Gene William Grimm, 68, of Keedysville, MD, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born June 8, 1953 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William Lester and Margaret Geneva (Hutzell) Grimm. Gene was a 1971 graduate of Boonsboro High School. He was employed for 25 years with Rotorex Corp, and 13 years at the City of Brunswick Waste Water Treatment Plant where he retired as a Lead Operator. Gene played on many Shuffleboard Leagues over the years, APA Pool League, World Tavern Poker, and softball in his younger years. He enjoyed most watching his grandchildren play sports and was their #1 fan. He was a diehard Minnesota Vikings and New York Yankees fan. He was a member of the Burnside First Church of God and the Sons of the Legion, Post 10. He is survived by his loving daughter, Tammy Jean (Grimm) Sauter and husband Raymond Charles Sauter, III of Keedysville, MD; his beloved grandchildren, Camden Ray Sauter and Caybree Rayne Sauter of Keedysville, MD; his companion, Carol Ecton of Keedysville, MD; ex-wife, Kathy Grimm of Keedysville, MD; one sister, Nina Keesecker of Keedysville, MD; one brother, Stephen Hutzell of Shepherdstown, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Grimm; three brothers, Herman Grimm, Scott Grimm and Samuel Grimm; paternal grandparents, William G. and Vada Grimm; and maternal grandparents Samuel L. and Ada Hutzell. A Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Friday, October 1, 2021, with Rev. Ernest Witmer officiating, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm. Memorial donations may be made to the South County Little League, P.O.
