Franklin "Frank" Johnson Reel, 84, of Hagerstown, MD, peacefully passed away on October 13th at Doey's House. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.  Born on October 1, 1939, he was the son of the late Edith Johnson Reel and Samuel G. Reel, Sr.

Frank was a member of the First Christian Church for 72 years. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and sociability. He never met a stranger.

As a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, he cherished his time on the Air and Sea Rescue Team in Guam. Frank was also a member of the American Legion Post 211 in Funkstown, Maryland. He graduated from North/South Class of 1957 and had a deep passion for baseball, playing from Little League to Colt League and beyond. As an adult, he actively participated in the Hub City Slow Pitch League.

Frank retired in 1993 after 26 years of service as a Correctional Officer at the Maryland Correctional Training Center.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Scuffins-Reel, whom he was married to for 55 years, along with his daughter, Delissa Miller-Key, and many nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother, Samuel G. Reel Jr., and three sisters, Vivian Hicks, Mary Beggarly, and Wilda Gift.

Services will be held 2pm Friday, October 20, 2023 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Dr. James R. Brooks will officicate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742 or Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Ste 3000, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
