Francis Leroy Lyons, 95, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Meritus Medical Center.  Born September 17, 1929 in Tyro Virginia, he was the son of the late George and Verna Mae (Steele) Lyons.

Francis was a veteran with the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from Mack Truck after 30 years of service, and loved traveling and fishing. He was a long-time member of UAW, and was a member of the Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene .

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lovetta V. (Rohrback) Lyons; two children, Keith L. Lyons (wife, Vicki) and Lori A. (Lyons) Gearhart (husband, William); four grandsons, Chris (wife, Sandy), Joshua, Justin (wife, Lisa), and Steven; six great grandchildren, Katie, Micah, Natalie, Hannah, Greyson, Abbigail; and one surviving sister, Elizabeth Young of Middleburg, MA.

In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by five brothers and eight sisters.

The funeral service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Rachel Zeigler will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8pm, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the funeral home.
