FRANCES LOUISE HELLANE, 90, formerly of Englewood Road and Potomac Towers, died on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Julia Manor in Hagerstown. Born February 17, 1921 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Monroe E. and Laura Lee Leonard Cock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph (Jack) Glenn Hellane, Jr. who died September 16, 1980. Frances was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad, Eyerly's and Hagerstown Urology Center. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Senior Citizens of Washington County, Homemakers of Halfway and Catholic Daughters. She is survived by two sons, Joseph G. Hellane, III of Hagerstown, and David L. Hellane of Smithsburg; a granddaughter, Hilary Hellane of Hagerstown, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Joel Cock and a sister, Virginia Cock Sowers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown, Md. Rev. Christopher Moore will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. There will be no viewing. The family has requested the omission of flowers and donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740.
