Obituary

Florence Jean Greene of Keedysville, Maryland, passed away of natural causes on June 23, 2026 at the age of 84. Raised in Smithfield, Pennsylvania, Florence spent her early years in the close-knit community she always held dear. After marrying Charles W. Greene, she moved to Maryland, where they built a home and raised their family together. Charles preceded her in death.

Florence is survived by her sisters, Carol Mrazek and Karen Thorpe; her brother, John Betchy; her loving children, Cynthia Trujillo and Charles R. Greene; her cherished grandchildren, Casandra Townsend, Samantha Trujillo, and Larissa Trujillo; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Bailee Townsend and Briella Dodson. Her parents, Robert and Lorraine Betchy; her older brother, George Betchy; and her younger sister, Eileen Janney, preceded her in death.

Florence, also known as “Nina” by her great-grandchildren, found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, creating lasting memories with those she loved most. She had a passion for gardening and took great pride in planting beautiful flowers and growing vegetables. She also enjoyed cooking large family meals, shopping, crocheting afghans, completing jigsaw puzzles, and collecting rooster and chicken statues, hobbies that brought her much happiness and reflected her warm, cheerful spirit.

Known for her gentle, welcoming heart and caring nature, Florence touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, compassion, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, generosity, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
