Fay Elizabeth Shank, 95, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 24, 2026, in Hagerstown.

Born April 10, 1931, in Washington County, MD, Fay was the daughter of the late Ernest Lewis and Hannah Susan (Shank) Grove.

She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and volunteered with the VBS Program. Fay also served the community as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hagerstown Rescue Mission.

Fay was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Charles A. Shank; one sister, Helen Barbara Shank; and five brothers, John, Daniel, Clyde, Roger, and Ernest Hub Grove.

She is survived by four sons, Bruce “Sonny” Shank, Charles “Chuck” R. Shank, Wayne L. Shank, and Pastor Ronald L. Shank; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, October 2, 2026, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.

Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Evangel Baptist Church, 17922 Broadfording Rd., Hagerstown with Chaplain Ron Faith officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fay’s name to Golden Girls, 1127 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
