ETHEL MAE MCCARTY, 77, of Clear Spring, Maryland, died Monday, September 30, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center. Born January 5, 1936, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Martin G. and Mary I. Mills Bridendolph. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald (Ronnie) McCarty in 2001. She was employed with Corning Glass for twenty-six years retiring in 1992. She was of the Christian faith. She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Beach of Falling Waters, WV and Mary Ellen Chaney of Clear Spring, MD; two sons, Kevin J. (KJ) Zittle of Anacoco, Louisiana and Shane E. McCarty of State Line, PA; two sisters, Edith Janney of York Haven, PA and Cheryl Spigler of Hagerstown, MD; one brother, Gilbert Edward Bridendolph of Picher, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Nathan C. Bridendolph; and 3 sisters, Ruth Butts, Helen Shoemaker and Jean Cline. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
