Obituary

ETHEL CORRINE CARBAUGH, 93, of Maugansville, MD died Friday, October 10 at the Washington County Hospital. Born April 14, 1915 in Washington County she is the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Lillian Jackson Ruth. She was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Carbaugh, July 12, 1982. She was a life member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Friendship Class and served 37 years as a Nursery Leader and 30 years in Vacation Bible School. She was also a Nursery Leader for the Baptist Blue Ridge Association for two terms. She made baby blankets for newborns and lap robes for nursing homes. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Poffenberger of Vero Beach, FL and Ellen Schindler of Falling Waters, WV; one son, David C. Carbaugh, Jr. of Shallotte, NC; two sisters, Lillian Pickens and Peggy Swope both of Hagerstown; a brother Lewis Ruth of Clearspring; seven grandchildren, Robert Carbaugh of Greencastle, PA, Janie Clymer of NC, Tammy Guyton of WV, Karen Dunn of The Plains, VA, Terri Brown of OH, Andrea Scully of Sheridan, AR and Marsha Wikfors, of Charlotte, NC;14 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Rudisill and Delores McKenzie; three brothers, Wesley Ruth, Clyde Ruth and Charles Ruth; and a great grandson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am at First Baptist Church, corner of Washington and High Sts with Revs Dan Taylor, Thom Smith and Wendall Gross officiating. Burial will be in Broadfording Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 7:00-9:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown. The family requests the omission of flowers with memorial donations made to First Baptist Church Handicapped Fund or a charity of your choice.
