EMORY WALLACE RIDENOUR, 93, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at Ravenwood Assisted Living. Born January 6, 1925 near Marlowe, WV, he was the son of the late Milton P. and Edith Pearl (Wissinger) Ridenour. During his younger years, Emory enjoyed working and watching the races at the Hagerstown Speedway. Over the years, he owned and enjoyed riding his motorcycles. He looked forward to annual deer hunting with his son, Lee. He worked at Fairchild Industries and retired from Jamison Door Company after 30 years of service. Emory was a member of the Improved Order of Redmen, Boonsboro, MD; Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge 378; and Life Member of the Western Maryland Sportsmens Club, Inc. While a resident of Ravenwood Assisted Living for the past eight years, Emory was a regular attendee for Thursday afternoon Bingo. He also participated in the Washington County Golden Age Olympics winning various metals and certificates. He is survived by his son, Dennis M. Ridenour and wife, JoEllen, Hagerstown; daughter-in-law, Rosalie M. Ridenour, Hagerstown; grandson, Christopher M. Ridenour, Martinsburg; two great-granddaughters and three great-great-granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ivy M. (Reed) Ridenour, who passed away on December 12, 2009; one son, W. Lee Ridenour; four brothers, Gaither C., Richard J., Walter B., and Milton B. Ridenour; and two sisters, Goldie K. Leininger and Marie I. Garling. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Michael Seger, Hospice Chaplain, will officiate. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742. Thanks to Hospice of Washington County staff for their faithful service to Emory during his illness. The family relays special thanks to the staff at Ravenwood Assisted Living for their devotion to his care during the eight years he was a resident.
