Obituary

EMILY GREENWALD, 72, of 935 The Terrace, Hagerstown, MD died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Meritus Medical Center. Born May 8, 1939 in Baltimore Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Esther Goodman. She was a graduate of Bardstown Kentucky High School and attended Hagerstown Community College and Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri. She is survived by her husband Melvin Greenwald; son Kevin Horowitz of Birdsboro, PA; three step sons Gary and Alan Greenwald of Hagerstown; and Steve Greenwald of Tampa, Florida; 7 step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. In her younger years she worked for WBAL radio station in Baltimore as their music librarian and Interstate Record Distributors in Hagerstown. She was a Kentucky Colonel and was co-chairman of the first Evening With Nick. She was a member of Congregation B'nai Abraham and a member of Fountain head Country Club. She had a great love for Kentucky and Kentucky basketball. She attended twenty four consecutive Final Fours as well as traveling with the team to Hawaii and twice to Alaska. A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 12 at 11 am at B'nai Abraham Cemetery, 17520 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown. Rabbi Fred Raskind will conduct the service.
